The Beauty of Serendipity

On the 29th of November, Gauteng Tzu Chi volunteers made their way to the United Cerebral Palsy Association (UCPA) for their end-of-year visit. It was to be another joyful reunion with the residents of UCPA, but this time's visit was particularly special as it  marked the first-time attendance of Mister Amirth Singh, the first African to become an official bone marrow donee.

Blue Downs Ethembeni Children's Care Centre Visit

This Saturday saw the Capetonian Tzu Chings making another visit to Blue Downs Ethembeni Children's Care Centre. Ethembeni is a small daycare based in Blue Downs, Cape Town; it is run by Emma, a 64-year-old caregiver in the district. The day care, though small, boasts 25 eager, bright-eyed and fun-loving children from ages 1-4. Coincidentally, the day care was also having their 2014 Community Primary School graduation that day.

Feeding the mind. Feeding the Soul

Daily nutrition is something that most of us take for granted, but for the young orphans of Tembisa, having a meal a day can be something hard to come by. As a child's nutrition and education go hand in hand, Tzu Chi's local volunteers and youth members combined their efforts in helping to feed the children's mind, body and soul.

Mandela Day in Cape Town

"A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world the better place we so passionately dreamt of" - Nelson Mandela
In the true spirit of giving, and in celebration of our beloved Tata Madiba, many South Africans did something charitable for at least 67 minutes on 19 July.
