Every year, around the Easter holiday period, there are a group of youngsters willing to give up their holiday to attend the Tzu Ching training seminars held at Tzu Chi Headquarters. This year, however, holds something just a little different.

For the first time, the Tzu Ching training seminars were held by Local English-based Tembisa Tzu Chings.
A vast amount of applicants we received; all highly eager to learn more about Tzu Chi philosophy. All participants were carefully selected and only the ones who had attended more than 80% of our regular volunteer programs were recruited.
The seminar took place over a Saturday to Sunday weekend; although the time seems to be a bit short, the curriculum team lead by Joanne, managed to deliver all the important aspect, including the core of Tzu Chi ideology, the admin approach for future planning, how to promote Tzu Ching & spread the idea of Tzu Chi by means of the internet. We also had the privilege to invite Dr Allen Wen to share with us some important messages regarding HIV/AIDS; such as how to deal with the biggest threat in disease we face in South Africa, as well as the correct attitude we should have when facing a patient who is HIV positive.
It was all in all a great experience for everyone. In terms of the future, we are currently scheduling an open seminar sometime in July which will host all applicants new to Tzu Chi.
