Tzu Chi Volunteers of Ladysmith Have March Seminar

On the 4th March 2014, some of our Local Volunteers went to share with the members of the Rosboom community about the Tzu Chi seminar that was to be held later on in the month and to invite them to come and experience the joy in helping others.

The aim of the visit was to explain what the seminar would be about, when it would be held and it would include the Local Volunteers from Durban, Lesotho, New Castle and Ladysmith. We shared some Tzu Chi songs with the community members and shared some of our experiences within Tzu Chi and its impact on our lives with the members of the community.

On the 6th March, we were in Blue Bank; some of the Local Volunteers were working together to create gifts for the visiting volunteers that would be attending the seminar. The Blue Bank Volunteers divided themselves into teams according to the available time they had from home and each team was assigned tasks like cleaning and seminar locations, cutting grass, organising home visits and general maintenance of the community such as repairing toilets and improving the playground of a local cresh school.

During the seminar, volunteers went from home to home, holding home visits with members of the Peacetown and Sudshet communities, introducing Tzu Chi Foundation and recruiting more volunteers. We taught the new volunteers about Tzu Chi's aims and values and shared with them the love we have and showed them how to spread their love to others.
