South Africa Tzu Ching was established roughly around August, 1994. Some may refer to this year as the year of the "Born-Frees" since it marked the first democratic election after the well-known Apartheid era.
Throughout these 20 years, Tzu Ching have participated in numerous events hosted by Tzu Chi Foundation. The Tzu Ching don't only provide moral support during these events; they are also extensively involved in the planning thereof. Further more, Tzu Ching have hosted countless seminars with the largest number of participants sitting at 300 people.
20 years down the line, although it is unfortunate that some have left the group, most members have chosen to stay. Even though many of the alumnis have each formed their own families, started focusing more on their careers; they are still willing to dedicate their time and efforts into helping the Tzu Chi youth of today grow and develop through providing assitance, sharing their experiences, laughter and sometimes tears.
This 20 year anniversary is dedicated to these former Tzu Ching, now the Alumni, who have worked tirelessly over these years to make the South African Tzu Ching group what it is today. We solute you and we certainly look forward in passing this torch down the Buddhist Path with your company.
Happy 20th Birthday, South Africa Tzu Ching!
